Acorn Stairlifts is based in Yorkshire, and since its formation in 1992, it has grown to become the largest manufacturer of straight stair lifts in the world. The company prides itself on the quality and reliability of its products, its customer service and ongoing support, available 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.
Acorn’s Superglide stair lift is designed for straight stairs. It is operated by a simple to use paddle control. You simply need to gently push it in the direction you want to move. It’s designed to be operated by even the lightest touch, so it’s easy to use by those with limited dexterity. It also comes with two remote controls, so you can summon your stair lift to you from the top or the bottom of the stairs, or send it away to another user.
The Superglide is DC-powered, which means it runs on rechargable batteries. This means it will continues to work even in a powercut, so you won’t be leftstranded. When fully-charged, you should get 15-20 trips from your stair lift.
The motor isn’t at all noisy and has been described as quiet as a whisper. The stair lift is designed to start and stop smoothly, ensuring a comfortable ride without any sudden jolts. The maximum speed of travel is 15cm per second. It has a dual electronic and mechanical braking system to ensure it won’t ever descend unexpectedly or too quickly. It has five safety sensors that will automatically detect if there’s anything on the stairs that would get in the way of the stair lift. If the sensors find an obstruction, they’ll automatically stop the stair lift to prevent an accident.
The comfortable padded seat swivels to help you get on and off, and has a belt for your safety. When you’re not using your stair lift, you can fold up the seat, the arms and the foot rest to leave more space on the stairs. You can also use a key to lock it, which makes it child-proof.
In the unlikely event of a fault with your stair lift, there is a digital diagnostic display that will show an easy to read code to help you fix the problem. For example, it will alert you if your stair lift has been inadvertently turned off or parked incorrectly. In addition, Acorn’s team of engineers is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so there is always help and support available whenever you need it.
This specially-designed stair lift is a good solution if you have a narrow staircase (less than 2ft wide) where a seated stair lift wouldn’t fit. It’s also ideal for people who have difficulty bending their knees to sit down because it has a small, padded seat to perch on rather than sitting down fully.
It also allows the user to stand up whilst using the stair lift. It is operated by a detachable toggle, that can either be handheld or attached to the frame. This stair lift has a fold down arm which acts as a safety barrier and provides a handrail that you can hold onto while using the lift.
This model can be fitted on almost any type of curved staircase and has a modular rail that makes it quicker to install than some curved stair lifts. It has a special self-levelling transport system, which helps provide a smooth ride when moving around corners and bends, by adjusting the speed and level of the seat.
This stair lift is built to withstand the elements and can be installed in a variety of outdoor situations, so it is ideal if you’ve got a lot of steps in your garden or up to the door of your house. It comes with a waterproof cover to extra protection and to ensure your lift is always clean and dry when you want to use it.
